Recycling Conversation

The Effingham Public Library will host a panel discussion about the current challenges facing recycling Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. in the Workman Room.

The dilemma with what to do with items earmarked for recycling is playing out across the U.S. The country generates more than 250 million tons of waste a year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, with about a third of this recycled and composted.

Guest panelists Nancy Totten, Centenary United Methodist Church, Brain Hayes, owner of Landfill 33, Chris Mette, representing recycling in Teutopolis, Sarah Sehy-Ruholl and Joanna Davies with Effingham Recycles will share insights into how the situation developed and how our community can respond well.

No registration is required for this free event.
