City Launches New Website

Post Date:05/01/2017 8:45 AM
The City of Effingham is proud to announce our new website. The innovative design features a more customer service based approach. Said City Administrator James Arndt, “We wanted to make our site more user friendly and not just use it as a filing cabinet but as a virtual employee.”

The City used heat mapping to decide what visitors were accessing the most and videos of evaluators searching for certain items in order to view a visit through the eyes of a customer. “It was eye opening to view what customers experienced and was an extremely helpful tool to guide our new design, stated Arndt.”

A few of the new features that have been added are access to more online forms, the ability to pay for services online, easy to find buttons, and a “How Do I?” section for some of the most frequently searched topics. The City understands that the citizens desire to easily find information and the new design accommodates both desktop and mobile devices.

The City worked with Vision Internet out of California while developing the new website. Vision Internet was chosen for its experience working with hundreds of municipal governments across the nation to provide website design and online services. The City began collaborating with Vision Internet 12 months ago with the research and design phases. Along with the City’s main site,, the Effingham Convention and Visitor’s Bureau’s, was also updated.

This new website is a continuation of the City’s advancement in technology. Three years ago we embarked on social media, and twelve months ago we launched our own app, Effingham Connection. We will continue to progress by adding live streaming of our City Council meetings in the coming months.
