Three Easy Steps:
Step 1. Go to http://www.effinghamil.com and Click on the Citizen Alert button and follow the instructions for creating your Effingham City Alert Web User ID, Password, and Security Question and Answer.
Step 2. You will by default be signed up for Emergency Alerts.
Step 3. Enter in all of the Voice (Phone) and Text (SMS, EMAIL, ETC) Notification Paths you would like to receive Emergency Alerts and Community Alerts. Select the order in which you would like the notifications to be sent and to what device.
Emergency Notification System powered by Everbridge, is new to the City of Effingham for a more updated system. You will be notified about issues that may affect your residence, neighborhood or the City of Effingham. This system will allow us to contact thousands of residents and/or businesses with important information that may affect you and your family.

Messages will be delivered to you any way you want—on your home phone, cell phone, email, and more by the City Telecommunicators and/or City officials. The system will be used for situations such as boil orders, evacuations, hazmat incidents, missing persons, or any other Crime watch event that may involve your neighborhood or community.
How does it work?
The process begins when any of our police, fire, public works or City Official determines a message about a potential safety hazard or situation should be disseminated in the community. Telecommunicators or an authorized official will have the capability to create the important message and alert you by voice, email, or text, depending on the data you entered. If you don't confirm receipt of the message, the system will try to reach your second contact number or email. Once confirmed it will discontinue trying to reach additional contacts.
The success of this service relies on YOU. Having your latest contact information is the only way to ensure that we can contact you in an emergency. SIGN UP TODAY. There are multiple ways to sign up.
