Fire Chief Joseph C. Holomy has been appointed to the Illinois Terrorism Taskforce representing the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.

The Illinois Terrorism Taskforce (ITTF) is an advisory body that was created by Governor Executive Order #17 in 2003. The purpose is to develop and recommend to the Governor the State’s domestic terrorism preparedness strategy. The ITTF develops policies related to the appropriate training of local, regional and State officials to respond to terrorist incidents involving conventional, chemical, biological and or nuclear weapons. The ITTF recommends to the Governor any changes in Illinois state statutes, administrative regulations, or in the Illinois Emergency Operations Plan, that may be necessary to accomplish its established objectives.

The ITTF has established a working partnership among public and private stakeholders from all disciplines and regions of the State to facilitate the coordination of resources and the communication of information essential to combat various threats across the state. The ITTF is made up of 60 members representing the various organizations and agencies within the State to include Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Department of Public Health, FBI, Attorney General, U.S. Attorneys Office, Department of Military Affairs, and Department of Agriculture to name only a few. The expertise and willingness of all the agency representatives to sacrifice turf issues for the greater good are the main reason Illinois is recognized as a national leader in homeland security.
