On Monday, April 2, 2007, the Effingham Fire Department recognized Commissioner Don Eden for his dedication and service in overseeing the Fire Department over the past four years. Previously, Commissioner Eden oversaw the Fire Department from 1975 to 1979 at which time he was involved in the building of Fire Station #3. Chief Holomy presented an engraved fire axe to Commissioner Eden and thanked him for his leadership and support of changes in the Fire Department. In addition, 2nd Assistant Chief Wolters presented Commissioner Eden a watch with a Fire Department scramble on the face. The years of service to the department were engraved on the back of the watch. Chief Wolters commented on the advances made by the department under Don’s term as Commissioner.
The presentations were made at the monthly department meeting with personnel giving Don a standing round of applause. Commissioner Eden’s term of office officially ends on May 1st.
