Firefighter of the Year Awarded to Chief Holomy

Fire Chief Joe Holomy was awarded Firefighter of the Year for 2006 by Commissioner of Health & Safety Don Eden. Firefighter of the Year is an award presented to a firefighter who has exceeded the expectations of their fellow firefighters. A firefighter must have demonstrated outstanding merit and or performance throughout the previous year. This can include, but is not limited to, exceptional community involvement, enhancing the development of the department or commitment to their job.

Holomy Awarded Firefighter of the Year
This is the first time the award has been presented to the Chief of the department. The committee, a make up of full-time and part-time personnel along with Commissioner Eden, chose the Chief for the many accomplishment made in the department and his commitment to the community. The award was presented at the department meeting held on January 8th.
