EFFINGHAM CITY COUNCIL -
COMMISSIONER MATT HIRTZEL

Matt Hirtzel was elected Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements in 2011.
Matt graduated from Effingham High School and attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is employed as an engineer at the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Matt is a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Noon Rotary. His hobbies include hunting, camping and disc golf.
He resides in Effingham with his wife, Mandee, and his daughters, Keira, Laurel, Anna, Sarah, and Elizabeth.
His goals while serving on the Council are to:
• Balance the budget and get the City out of debt
• Attract businesses, including retail, service, and manufacturing
• Promote Effingham as a great place to live, work and visit!
