SECOND QUARTER 2010 PROGRESS REPORT
The Effingham Progress Report contains a partial listing of new and recently completed projects located within the City of Effingham.
Midland States Bank - Midland States bank has started construction on their new 79,500 square foot corporate hearquarters. The new complex will be located at the intersection of Willenborg Street and Althoff Drive in the Network Centre Technlogy Park. The facility will be the Bank's headquarters for its numerous banking centers and it will contain executive offices, human resources, marketing, IT, a corporate training center and its credit, loan, and deposit operations.
Patterson Companies, Inc. - Patterson has chosen Effingham as the location of its new 110,000 square foot Technology Center. The new conplex will be located at the intersection of Althoff Drive and Willenborg Street and will house the company's new office and software manufacturing center. The new facility doubles the size of Patterson's existing building providing ample room to grow. Construction is slated to begin in July.
St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital Center for Advanced Imaging - This $10 million project is well underway and includes: a new MRI, a new 64-slice CT Scanner, digital mammography and a stereotatic breast biopsy system. The project is expected to be completed by late summer.
Effingham Performance Center - The Rosebud Theatre recently reopened and changed its name to the Effingham Performance Center. This 1,550 seat live performance theatre is located on Outer Belt West and its new season performance line-up is slated to be available in July.
Uphill Grind Cycle & Fitness - This new business just opened in the Dammerman Plaza. Bicycle sales, repairs, apparel, and a cafe lounge can all be found within the facility.
Aspen Creek - Aspen Creek recently opened its new 6,400 square foot facililty on Blohm Avenue. The complex provides housing and assistance to those individuals suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.
Schumacher Orthodontics - A new 3,000 square foot building was just completed for Schumacher Orthodontics. The new facility is located on Eden Drive and offers orthodintic treatment for people of all ages.
Dollar General - Dollar General is nearing completion of a new 9,000 square foot facility located on South Banker Street in front of the Village Square Mall.
Sphinx Auto Sales - A new used car dealership will be opening soon on South Banker Street next to Harper Oil Gas Station. A 432 square foot office facility is nearing completion as part of the project.
Strip Malls - Two new strip malls were constructed on Keller Drive. Existing tenants include: Jimmy Johns, Carle Clinic, Jackson Hewitt, Westaff, Heights Finance, KC Nails, LG, Maytag, and Verizon.
Lavender Ridge - Lavender Ridge is a new senior living development being constructed on North Maple Street. The facility is close to completion and is centered around those individuals suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.
The Sherwin-Williams Company – Sherwin-Williams recently committed to staying in Effingham at its current facility. Numerous renovations and improvements have been undertaken and are scheduled to be made at the complex. Sherwin-Williams stated that the workforce was a big part of the decision to remain in the community.
Joe’s Pizza and Pasta – Joe’s expanded into the former Ivan’s Shoe Store building and renovated the entire restaurant. Joe’s now has additional seating capacity, meeting space, and a new bar area.
New Retail Center – A new 14,879 square foot retail center was recently completed. New tenants include Buffalo Wild Wings, and the U.S. Recruting Office. The complex is located in front of Menards on Charlotte Street.
Pepsi Mid-America – The Pepsi facility located in the Effingham Business Park has expanded by 2,871 sq. ft. The addition will house their full-line facility and additional employees were hired as part of the expansion.
Mid-America Motorworks – Numerous improvements to the Mid-America Motorworks automotive complex have been outlined for future development by the company. Construction of a stage and fencing improvements were undertaken as an initial project.
Sehy and Jones Optometrists – Sehy and Jones have relocated into their new office located on Keller Drive.
ADM – ADM completed a 59,750 square feet expansion to their distribution facility located in the Effingham Business Park.
Drs. Slusar and Hage – A new office building just opened on the north end of the City. The 2,145 square feet building is home to Drs. Slusar and Hage who operate their orthodontist practice at the facility.
Outer Belt West – The section of Outer Belt West from Evergreen Avenue to Fayette has been completed and opened for traffic, while the segment from Fayette Avenue to U.S. Route 40 is currently under construction and nearing completion. This new roadway will open up additional property for development, provide another north/south roadway alleviating some traffic congestion off of Keller Drive, and connect the middle and southern interchanges.
Bonutti Research Inc. – Bonutti Research just added 6,000 sq. ft. and remodeled its office area at its facility located in the Effingham Business Park. The project resulted in the addition of new employees at the complex. An additinoal expansion of 4,640 square feet is underway and should be completed in August. This new addition will house additional offices for the research lab facility.
New Restaruants – Two new restaurants recently opened. A new Mexican Restaruant, Taqueria Don Pedro, opened on Fayette Avenue in the former American Bagel facility and a new Thai Restaruant, Bangkok Thai, opened in the facility formerly occupied by El Rancherito on Keller Drive.
