ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - 
FIRST QUARTER 2011 PROGRESS REPORT

The Effingham Progress Report contains a partial listing of new and recently completed projects located within the City of Effingham.

Midland States Bank - Midland States bank has started construction on their new 79,500 square foot corporate hearquarters.  The new complex will be located at the intersection of Willenborg Street and Althoff Drive in the Network Centre Technlogy Park.  The facility will be the Bank's headquarters for its numerous banking centers and it will contain executive offices, human resources, marketing, IT, a corporate training center and its credit, loan, and deposit operations.

 

Patterson Companies, Inc. - Patterson's new 110,000 square foot facility is under construction The new conplex will be located at the intersection of Althoff Drive and Willenborg Street and will house the company's new office and software manufacturing center.  The new facility doubles the size of Patterson's existing building providing ample room to grow. 

 

St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital Center for Advanced Imaging - This $10 million project was recently completedand includes:  a new MRI, a new 64-slice CT Scanner, digital mammography and a stereotatic breast biopsy system.  Current projects underway comprise of renovation and reorganizing the prior nuclear medicine space and existing radiology department.  The construction of a wound healing center which includes two hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and the removal of two residential units to allow for future expansion of the hospital complex. 

 

Effingham Performance Center - The Rosebud Theatre recently reopened and changed its name to the Effingham Performance Center.  This 1,550 seat live performance theatre is located on Outer Belt West.  Upcoming performances will include:  Ron White, Steve Martin, Kenny Rogers, and Arlo Guthrie to name just a few.

 

Aspen Creek - Aspen Creek recently opened its new 6,400 square foot facililty on Blohm Avenue.  A second facility of 6,400 square foot is slated to open in the near future.

 

Dollar General - Dollar General opened a new 9,000 square foot facility located on South Banker Street in front of the Village Square Mall.

 

Sphinx Auto Sales - A new used car recently opened on South Banker Street next to Harper Oil Gas Station.  A 432 square foot office facility is nearing completion as part of the project.

 

Lavender Ridge - Lavender Ridge is a 16,865 square feet new senior living development which was constructed on North Maple Street.  The facility is centered around helping those individuals suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.

 

The Sherwin-Williams Company – Sherwin-Williams recently committed to staying in Effingham at its current facility. Numerous renovations and improvements have been undertaken and are scheduled to be made at the complex.  Sherwin-Williams stated that the workforce was a big part of the decision to remain in the community.

 
Outer Belt West – Outer Belt West has now been completed from U.S. Route 40 to Evergreen Avenue.  The remaining section from Evergreen Avenue to Ford Avenue is currently under construction.  This new roadway will open up additional property for development, provide another north/south roadway alleviating some traffic congestion off of Keller Drive, and connect the middle and southern interchanges.

Denny's - Denny's just opened their new 4,575 square feet restaurant on North Keller Drive.  The old facility was torn down and a new restaurant was constructed on the same location.  Denny's also opened a restaurant in the Flying J Truckstop.

 

Solix CMR - Solix recently opened a new call center in the yellow Book USA complex.  The company has approximately 100 employees at its new customer care center.

 

Tuscan Hills Winery - This new 8,000 square feet complex is under construction and is located adjacent to and south of Legacy Harley Davidson.  The Winery is slated to be open this spring.

 

Goodwill Store - A new Goodwill Store will be opening in May in a portion of the former Kroger complex.
