The City of Effingham continues to work with existing and new companies to provide assistance and support for any needs they may have. So far this year, business activity is taking place throughout the community with several more projects slated to start this year. Interest in Effingham has been picking up and an improvement in the economy has allowed companies to increase employment and projects.
Some projects underway or soon to be starting construction would include the following:
MEIJER - Meijer plans to build a 150,000 s.f. store located next to Kohl's with a tentative start date of 2021. Roadway improvements have been completed.
HEARTLAND TOWING - Heartland Towing has moved into their newly built facility located on East Evergreen Avenue.
SACRED HEART CHURCH - Sacred Heart Church recently completed a significant remodel.
J & J VENTURES - J & J Ventures continues construction on an addition to their headquarters. They are expected to add 50 new jobs.
GOLDEN CORRAL - Golden Corral is close to completing work on remodeling the former Ryan's building.
CASH EQUIPMENT - Cash Equipment will be relocating and building a new facility near The Cross on Pike Avenue.
I-70 TRUCK CENTER - I-70 Truck Center will be relocating and building a new facility along North U.S. Highway 45.
AMERICA’S GROOVE RECORD STORE – America’s Groove Record Store has relocated from the Village Square Mall to the former Fresh Digs location in Downtown Effingham.
VILLAGE SQUARE MALL – Village Square Mall is under new ownership and renovations to the building have begun.
HETZEL’S TRUCKING – Hetzel’s Trucking will be relocating and building a new location along South U.S. Highway 45.
