The City of Effingham continues to work with existing and new companies to provide assistance and support for any needs they may have. So far this year, business activity is taking place throughout the community with several more projects slated to start this year. Interest in Effingham has been picking up and an improvement in the economy has allowed companies to increase employment and projects.
Some projects underway or soon to be starting construction would include the following:
MEIJER - Meijer has announced plans to build a 150,000 s.f. store located next to Kohl's. Roadway improvements are scheduled to commence this year.
EFFINGHAM RAILROAD - The Effingham Railroad has completed construction on a new 9,000 sq. ft. facility. The new building will provide office and shop space with room to accommodate a 90ft flat car.
ABBOTT AMBULANCE - Abbot ambulance has completed the construction of a new building located on North Third Street.
HSHS ST. ANTHONY'S MEMORIAL HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT- HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital has completed a remodel their Emergency Department, including a new registration desk, triage area, waiting room, and creating all private exam rooms.
DOMINOS - Domino's has relocated into a newly construction building along Fayette Avenue.
HEARTLAND TOWING - Heartland Towing has begun work on their new facility located on East Evergreen Avenue.
RMC STADIUM CINEMAS - RMC Stadium Cinemas has purchased a portion of the Village Square Mall and has begun to remodel and expand. The completed project will feature ten luxury seating auditoriums and an expanded concession area offering hot foods. Updates will be made to the entrance, hallways, restrooms, and lighting.
BECK'S SUPERIOR HYBRIDS - Beck's Superior Hybrids has begun work on a 50,000 sq. ft. building to be used for machine storage.
SACRED HEART CHURCH - Sacred Heart Church is undergoing a significant remodel.
MIDLAND LOFTS - Midland States Bank remodeled their former building downtown into corporate lofts.
J & J VENTURES - J & J Ventures has begun construction on an addition to their headquarters. They are expected to add 50 new jobs.
