Housing and Economic Recovery Plan
In a bid to revitalize its economy and bolster its workforce, the City of Effingham has taken a significant step forward with the adoption of a comprehensive Housing and Economic Recovery Plan. This initiative, fueled by the Research in Illinois to Spur Economic Recovery (RISE) grant, marks a pivotal moment in Effingham’s journey towards growth.
The RISE grant, awarded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in September 2022, provided the necessary financial support to kickstart Effingham’s ambitious planning efforts. With these funds, the city embarked on a collaborative endeavor, partnering with The 1861 Group and Development Planning Partners to formulate a strategic roadmap for sustainable growth.
At the forefront of the plan’s development was the recognition of the critical role that housing plays in fostering economic stability and prosperity. Effingham’s Housing and Economic Recovery Plan is designed to address both housing and non-housing initiatives, aiming to create a conducive environment for growth across various sectors.
