We've started the public participation phase of our Effingham 2050 Comprehensive Plan project, and we need your help! A focus group meeting will be conducted to discuss all aspects of transportation: public transit, streets, bridges, sidewalks, bicycle paths, traffic control, and the airport on Monday, December 16th at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at City Hall (201 E. Jefferson Avenue). We hope you'll attend!

Kurt Davis

Deputy Chief Kurt Davis has been with the Effingham Police Department since 2004.  He is a graduate of Western Illinois University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.  Deputy Chief Davis is also a graduate of the 282nd Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy where he earned a Master’s Certificate from the University of Virginia.

During his tenure with the department, Deputy Chief Davis has served as a Field Training Officer, Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) 9 and 11 Special Response Team member, Effingham City/County Special Response Team member, Firearms Instructor, Illinois Active Threat Master Instructor, Drone Pilot, and Less Lethal Instructor.  Deputy Chief Davis has held positions as a Corporal, Sergeant, and Deputy Chief of Police.

Deputy Chief Davis comes from a Law Enforcement family; his grandfather worked for the Illinois State Police, and his uncle worked for the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Chief Davis resides within Effingham County with his wife and two daughters.
