The purchase of qualified building materials from a retailer that charges Illinois State Sales Tax is eligible for a sales tax exemption. Any contractor purchasing qualified building materials must submit an application to the Enterprise Zone Administrator. The application information will then be given to the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) and they will issue the sales tax exemption certificate directly to the purchaser.
