Register for Citizens Police Academy

Before you start

Review all applicant requirements.  Applicants:

  • Will complete an application and undergo a basic background check
  • Must be 18 years old and live or work in or around the Effingham area
  • Should not have pending criminal litigation or previous felony drug or violent convictions
  • Shall complete a hold harmless agreement and adhere to all safety procedures as instructed
  • Must attend 5 of the 7 Academy blocks to be considered for successful completion
  • Should complete 1 ride-along with a Field Training Officer during their Academy period

  • Submit form in person or mail to Effingham Police Department

To serve you better, please complete forms prior to arriving at the Police Department.  All information requested on the application must be provided to be considered for the Academy.  All forms can be found at the bottom of this page.

What's next

Successful applicants will be contacted by an Effingham Police Department Officer and given further information about specific class dates, times, and location.
