The boards and commissions of the City of Effingham are mostly comprised of volunteer citizens appointed by the Mayor and the City Council. All meetings are open to the public; however, all or part of a meeting may be held in closed session (no public allowed) if the item being discussed is within the guidelines of state statutes. Without the dedication of the many volunteers who serve, the City would be unable to function. These volunteers help to make Effingham a great place to live, work, and play.
