Message from the Chief

On behalf of the members of the Effingham Fire Department, I would like to welcome you to our webpage. We have placed valuable information on our page in an effort for you to become more familiar with the operations of the fire department.

The members of the Effingham Fire Department strive to provide the highest level of Public Safety Service insuring the wellbeing of our residents, visitors, and businesses.

We are an Insurance Services Organization (ISO) Class Two (2) Fire Department serving approximately 12,655 residents in the City of Effingham and providing fire suppression and rescue services to portions of Interstate 57 and Interstate 70 within and outside the City Corporate Limits.

The Effingham Fire Department is a combination career and paid-on-call department staffed with: (1) Fire Chief, (1) Assistant Chief, (3) Captains, (3) Lieutenants, (9) firefighters, and 15 paid-on-call firefighters providing service from two (2) fire stations. The Administrative Staff consists of (1) Executive Secretary. Fire Prevention, inspection, and plan review services are administered by the Assistant Fire Chief. The City Emergency Management Agency is coordinated by a part-time Coordinator who is attached to the Fire Department.

The men and women of the Effingham Fire Department provide fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, and technical rescue response. The department also manages the area Fire and Police Training Center.

In addition, our Fire Prevention Bureau provides a variety of public education and training programs. The department also coordinates a fire detector installation program as an added value to our citizens.

It is an honor to serve as your Fire Chief; I encourage you stop by for a visit, schedule a station tour for your community organization, or contact us for additional information.

Thank you and be safe.
