Apply for a solicitor, peddler or itinerant merchant permit

Before you start

Gather the following information:

  • Business name and information
  • Vehicle information
  • Business tax identification number
  • Personal information

Bring the following with you to the police department Monday - Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.:

  • Identification (for every person participating)
  • Completed application
  • Cash or check for
    • $5.00 (per day); or
    • $75.00 (for 30 days - excluding holidays and Sundays)

What to do

Applications are processed Monday - Friday from 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. (excluding holidays).  You must present valid identification in person for each participating individual, even drivers.

The process takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on how many people are in your group.  For faster service, please have your application completed and identification ready before you come.

What's next

After receiving a valid permit, you may go offer or sell your merchandise from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. for the days listed on your permit.

Some things to remember:

  • Hours of solicitation are 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., but we prefer you do not solicit after dark
  • No Sunday or Holiday selling
  • No solicitation of posted residences
  • You must present your valid permit upon request
  • If you are asked to leave a residence or business, you must leave immediately
